‘Note to Self’
Tasha Whittle (TXLW)
15 May – 15 September 2010
Tasha is a Manchester based artist, illustrator, animator and wall drawer. She has been a member of ‘Sketch City’ since 2005 and graduated from the MMU in Illustration and Animation in 2008. Tasha’s work incorporates as many different mediums as possible, believing that by challenging herself to work on new surfaces and with different materials, her work can naturally develop and constantly evolve.
Notes to Self are Illustrated ideas from notes and memories that are written in moments of madness and or clarity. TXLW is a Manchester based artist whose drawings have found themselves onto walls, bags, furniture, posters, flyers, tables, canvas, paper and the odd face. She enjoys cups of tea, moments (not the melting kind) observing and of course creating artworks.
Her work is constantly evolving and often relates to personal experiences or observations when in public places with a sub-conscious twist. Characters, text, patterns and organic forms take shape once the pen hits the paper and the music is turned on loud.
‘Note to Self’ consists of illustrated ideas from notes and memories that are written in moments of madness and/or clarity. Tasha works instinctively to put thought onto paper and with every installation Tasha makes, she tries to create a reflective response unique to that space. By making subconscious observations of her immediate surroundings and when listening music to whilst working, characters, shapes, text and organic forms begin to take shape. Tasha’s First Step showcase is a highly personal and beautiful collection of visualised thoughts.
During the presentation of Tasha Whittle’s Notes to Self visitors are invited to write a note to self and place it in a bird box that Tasha has designed.
