Message from Sally Lai
This Autumn/Winter, as well as presenting an exciting programme of activity, we are delighted to be welcoming some new members to the Chinese Arts Centre team. Stephen Kelly joins us as Deputy Director, and Rachel Marsden joins us as Research Curator. Our programme kicks off with the launch of a colourful display in our newly renovated shop space by former artist-in-residence Christine Wong Yap. We’ll also be launching a number of books; Institution for the Future co-edited with Biljana Ciric, and Yu-Chen Wang’s The Song of the Machines. Han Feng will also be showing the results of his residency at an Open Studio event, so if you're curious about the development of his work, please do join us. A particular highlight is going to be the solo exhibition by Yan Xing. Yan Xing was recently shortlisted for the Future Generation Arts Prize, so this will be a great opportunity to see the work of one of the most dynamic and exciting young artists working in China today. As well as an exhibition with Yan Xing, we are continuing our commitment to artists who have had limited exposure in the UK with an exhibition by Ma Qiusha. We also have a number of great residencies, including the People’s Residency artist, Li Cao, followed in the New Year by Antonia Low.
We look forward to seeing you over the next few months!
