Surrounded by an environment of fear, disasters and obsessive consumption Tishler-Wood feels it is important to communicate and generate positive energy in order to stimulate and motivate.What Next:Arrive at Chinese Arts Centre and ask for Alma Tischler-Wood at reception. Choose your colour a deep cadmium red, pale pink or rose madder, depending on your mood? You are then invited to contribute a square each, everyone is welcome no formal training required and together you will create a huge installation to celebrate life, peace & love.Please note contributors are also welcome to sing a song, recite a poem, play an instrument and have a go at Chinese Arts Centre’s very own Karaoke! Or simple relax and enjoy the co-dependence of Love & Peace.Contributors and friends will later be invited to the Open studios on 15 December 2007.

With the use of technology playing an ever-increasing role in many artworks, the engagement between two people is often lost in the dazzling use of new media. Live Art is all about communication and Vital 07 will strip away the reliance on props and gimmicks to expose the essence of performance.The selected artists are all engaging performers with a clear message to convey. Coming from around the world, they do not share a common language, yet their work is universal, dealing with issues such as power, identity and economics that everyone can relate to. All of the selected artists are of Chinese descent, from China, Hong Kong and the Chinese Diaspora. If you’re a serial ‘window shopper’ then you’ll love Chinese Arts Centre’s new exhibition, Boutique.UK Artists Anthony Key, Lisa Cheung, Pamela So and Nina Chua have been invited to consider the commodity element in their artwork and respond to the aesthetic qualities of their material and craftsmanship. All four artists work in very different mediums, sculpture, textiles, paper cutting and design bringing together an exhibition full of energy and vitality that for the first time will spill out of the gallery and into Chinese Arts Centre’s shop offering visitors the opportunity to purchase as well as admire.

Both organisations that share the same October birth date will offer Manchester tea lovers the opportunity to sample their new blends – ‘Chrysanthemum Peach 21’, and as a special gift the gallery has named another of their new collection the ‘MFDF 10 Wonderful Colours’ both can be sampled by calling into one of their tasting outlets during the festival tasting period.HEAL’S TEA TASTINGDate: Saturday 6 October 2007Time: 2-4pmPlace: Heal’s, 11 New Cathedral Street, ManchesterChinese Arts Centre and Heal’s are working in collaboration to mark the gallery’s 21st anniversary exhibition, ‘Boutique’.
